After Exposure of an Impacted Tooth
Some bleeding or redness in the saliva is normal for 24 hours. Biting gently on gauze for 30 minutes at a time is recommended to control bleeding.
Swelling is a normal occurrence after surgery. To minimize swelling, apply an ice bag or a plastic bag or towel filled with ice cubes on the cheek in the area of surgery.
Drink plenty of fluids and avoid hot liquids or food. Soup should be lukewarm, and a soft diet can be taken for the first few days after surgery.
Your medication regimen will be discussed with you at your consultation appointment.
Gentle brushing can be initiated the evening of your surgery, being careful around the surgical site.
